Location: Billericay, Essex

Salary: £6.50-£8.50 per hour (according to skills, knowledge & experience)

Probationary Period: 3 months

Job Description:

You will assist the Gardening Team Leader in providing a full range of gardening services to our household and corporate customers including:

• Lawn mowing

• Lawn care

• Weeding

• Pruning

• Hedge cutting

• Planting

• Garden tidying

You will need to achieve the highest standards of garden care and customer service, working within a team to ensure that our customers’ gardens are beautifully presented and left clean and tidy at the end of each day.

You will learn how to safely operate gardening machinery including hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers and strimmers.  You may also be asked to assist in small landscaping projects such as garden fence repairs.

You will liaise with customers to ensure their expectations are exceeded and will need to exhibit a professional and helpful attitude at all times.

As a team member, you will be jointly responsible for the cleanliness of our vehicles and equipment and will perform regular equipment and vehicle checks as required.

If you perform well in your role, you will have the opportunity to develop your career by learning the skills necessary to progress to leadership and specialist roles within our organisation.

During the probationary period of 3 months you will be employed on a self-employed basis, although progression to permanent full time or permanent part-time positions may follow.

Our teams consist of full time, part time and seasonal workers so we are happy to hear from you, however often you wish to work.  We are interested in hearing from those starting out in the work environment and from those who have retired and are seeking part-time, seasonal or occasional work.

Person Specification:

To be successful in our company you should be a highly motivated person, well organised, with keen attention to detail.

You will be a team player, able to listen to instructions, take direction and to work without supervision where required.  You should be confident in communicating with people of all ages and from a wide range of backgrounds.

You will need a proactive and flexible approach to work and be keen to take responsibility and ownership of tasks.

You will be required to do whatever is necessary to get the job done, and will need a flexible attitude towards start/finish/lunch/break times to ensure that all scheduled work is completed in a timely and professional manner.  You should be happy working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Experience:

Some knowledge of plants, lawn care, pruning and planting is required, however, we are happy to consider amateur gardeners, or those who have an interest in gardening and horticulture, but no formal gardening work experience.

Skills:

Gardening requires moving regularly between gardens so a full clean driving license is usually required as you will be expected to drive our company vehicles at certain times.  If you do not have a driving license, you may still apply, but should clearly state this in your application and we will be able to assign you work on a restricted number of jobs where an accompanying driver is available.

Applications from those with relevant qualifications in gardening or horticulture and with comprehensive plant knowledge and experience of gardening equipment are particularly welcome.  Further development will be offered for the right candidate.
